On March 8, 1931, the Associated Catholic Charities was formally created in Miami and is currently the biggest non-governmental provider of services and aid to the needy in South Florida with over 600 volunteers. www.catholiccharitiesadm.org
The shipping ports in Port Au Prince finally re-open. The world can once again return to shipping containers of aid and construction supplies directly into Haiti. Many organizations have been collecting donations and can now ship the freight to survivors via ocean freight. Until now, most of the humanitarian aid has been arriving through air freight.
